Annual Training 2002 Part 2

These are pictures taken during C Battery, 2/200 ADA Battalion's Annual Training in June 2002. The unit convoyed down to McGregor Range at Fort Bliss and fired 7 of 8 Patriot missiles with the last missile being a misfire. It was neat to see another live fire in a Patriot unit and really neat to have been so close to the launchers when the missiles went off. Here is part 2 of this set of pictures. Enjoy!

Setting up the tents and stuff. This is another battery setting
up. Charlie battery only had about 15 folks in it at this point.

The completed work. I know, the camo net should be
all the way to the ground but we needed a door. ;-)

We usually left the tent flaps open all the time. At night there would
be a nice breeze (sometimes a gale force wind with sand!) and it would
help keep us cool. During the day it was unbearably hot in the tents.

After the sleeping area was taken care of, it was time for the Signal
troops to get back to real work. Here is SGT Kohr (a fellow 31R who spent
his active duty time in an Airborne unit at Fort Bragg) fixing a radio
put together by a 1LT and SFC who didn't know what they were doing.

The OE-254 we had to put up for that same 1LT and SFC.

Next on the list of things to do was to run some wire!
Here is SGT Kohr splicing some together.

Later on that day, the 31R's got together and emplaced the AMG. Here
is SGT Kohr watching while SPC Pinto (another 31R) gets the leg ready.

Up top we go! One mast is already up and now we're getting
ready to raise the other one. It's hydraulic so less work!

Raising the mast. It's amazing how little you forget about
stuff you haven't done since 1995 when I was last in Patriot.

The completed work. The masts we just left at base height
since we were using the corner reflectors to put in radio shots.
