Annual Training 2002 Part 3

These are pictures taken during C Battery, 2/200 ADA Battalion's Annual Training in June 2002. The unit convoyed down to McGregor Range at Fort Bliss and fired 7 of 8 Patriot missiles with the last missile being a misfire. It was neat to see another live fire in a Patriot unit and really neat to have been so close to the launchers when the missiles went off. Here is part 3 of this set of pictures. Enjoy!

Several days and many air battle simulations later, it was
time to convoy out to the live fire site at McGregor Range.
We'd packed up the tents and such the evening before and
slept outside under the stars again. This time, the weather
wasn't so nice. Very windy and sandy. No one got much sleep.

Time to wait. That's SSG Casteneda.

And wait. There is SGT Kohr.

Finally we were out at McGregor Range for more... waiting. Anyone familiar
with McGregor Range will recognize the entrance in the background.

Finally, we were to set up the ICC at this range.

The completed ICC site. The actual firing site would be
a couple kilometers down the hill in front of the ICC.

Down at the actual firing site, the waiting continues.
This is SPC Pinto sitting against the wheel of the ECS.

Some of the launcher platoon folks waiting around.

Downrange, the live missiles are set up and readied.

So I hitched a ride down there and took some pictures. Looking
at the camera is SFC Limon not sure who's bent over working on
the missile. The civilian is with McGregor Range Control.
