Pictures from Klokot

There was a small site in the town of Klokot just about halfway between Camp Monteith and Camp Bondsteel. When we arrived in Kosovo, there were some troops from the 82nd Airborne Division there but they were replaced later by troops from the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. My platoon had a team there to provide them with a link to the network as well as RAU (Remote Access Unit) coverage for that part of Route Stag (the road between Camp Monteith and Camp Bondsteel down to the border). A RAU is like a cell phone for the Army. It allows those with the right Army phone to make a call from a moving vehicle. This site was kind of like the Russian site but they had their own food there so we'd just stop by every so often to drop off mail, laundry, or anytime they needed something. Here are the pictures I took during one of those stops.

Waiting for a horse-drawn cart to pass before we turn onto the access road.

Once again, skipping the front gate pictures, here is a patrol of 101st
Airborne (Air Assault) Division getting ready to go out on a mounted patrol.

Another picture of the troops getting ready. Note the .50 on top of the truck.

The remote RAU shelters.

Outside of the RAU living quarters. Washing his boots in the back is
PFC Torgerson, SPC Barriault in the middle, and SGT Ferguson on the right.

The RAU guys had been there for a long time. ;-)

That's SSG Lay, the RAU team chief, enjoying the folding chair
someone had mailed him and that we had just dropped off.

Waiting to get back on the road. No idea who that is bending over tying
their boots, but that's SPC Broussard on the left, SPC (now SGT) Pena in
the middle, no idea on the right. I think that was a troop attached to us.

That's SSG Vasser, my boss, on the phone.
