Pictures from Camp Monteith Part 2

Here is the second part of the Camp Monteith pictures. It is beginning to turn into spring time in Kosovo and we're getting into the warmer weather.

I was walking up to the operations tent one afternoon and came across this Humvee
preparing to go out on a mounted patrol. Note the M249 SAW mounted to the gunners position.

Just outside of our site, there was the clearing barrel area. Any time you
came back onto post, you had to stop here and clear all weapons before going on.
Here is a mounted patrol coming in and dismounting to clear their weapons.

Some of the troops posing before a convoy of our own. From left to right:
PFC Torgerson, SPC Barriault in front of PFC Torgerson, and SGT Ferguson
with the M249 SAW. It just happened to be *my* M249 SAW. :-)

An example of the mud behind the operations/node center area.

Here is another picture of my truck with the generator to the left.

There was a track behind our site and for the longest
time it was simply a muddy parking lot for unused vehicles.

It also doubled as a landing zone for Camp Monteith. Note they
finally cleaned up the mud and moved the vehicles so the track
could be used like it was meant to be. We'd run our PT test there.

The perimeter and guard tower along the edge
of the track behind our communications site.

On the left is the node center and on the right is the node center operations tent.

Outside of the node center shelters.

Here is the inside of the platoon operations tent where I worked.

And this is where I would sit and spend my 12 hour night shift playing on
the Internet and listening to the radio. That's my laptop on the table there.

Sitting around during the "day" shift. And they said I didn't do anything during my
night shift! From left to right: SGT Harrod, SGT Cook looking at the camera, SSG Vasser
barely visible behind SGT Cook, and SSG Mohler on the right next to the stove.

From left to right it's SGT Wiggins left bottom of the picture, SPC (now SGT) Riggle
standing at-east in the middle and SFC Cliff, the platoon sergeant, on the right.

Here we are during a class on uniforms of the "enemy". That's SFC Cliff on the left,
SGT Harrod looking at the camera, and SGT Hinojosa on the far right reading the handout.
