Miscellaneous Camp Monteith Pictures
These are just pictures I took around Camp Monteith that I couldn't figure
out any other category for. Once it warmed up, we managed to get a lot more
activities in. I've got some pictures from a barbecue and some from the
day we played football on the field in the middle of the track stopping when
the helicopters came in to land. SSG Rambert of the node center used to go
to the middle of the track and hit golf balls over the perimeter and somewhere
into Gnjilane. Eh, it was something to do! :-)
Some new troops moving into Camp Monteith.
Picture of the Canadian APC's parked outside our seahut.
Here is the APO where I would mail Leisa all those packages!
The guys walking toward the node center area to play some football.
After the football game in the node center tent. From left to right:
SPC Barrett seated, SGT Cook next to him, SGT Wiggins next to him,
and SPC (now SGT) Riggle standing and looking at the camera.
That's SGT Hinojosa sitting behind the stove
and SGT Martin on the cot talking to him.
SGT Evans on the left, SPC (now SGT) Pena in the flak vest
talking to SSG Vasser with the football (off picture).
From left to right: SGT Evans, SSG Vasser with the football,
SGT Martin, and SPC Broussard standing outside the node center.
The next three pictures were taken one evening when the locals were having
some kind of holiday where they burn tires and such. I have no idea why
they did that, but it appears to be an annual thing. From mid-afternoon to
late at night, there were fires all over Gnjilane with the smoke rising up.
The pictures are blurred because it was getting dark and the
camera lens needed more time to get the same light for a picture.
This picture is somewhat less blurred because I sat the camera
on top of a table and took the picture. This is looking out
past the track outside of the node center/operations area.
