Redeployment Pictures Part 2

Here we begin with the convoy to Camp Able Sentry in Macedonia. We were going to spend a night there after the convoy down and the next day we would drive the trucks to the railhead and just drop them off. It was kind of nice to have someone else do all the railloading and such. Then it was back to waiting at Camp Able Sentry for the busses to the airport in Greece. Anyway, enough talk on with the pictures!

The trip begins. The night before we'd turned in all of our ammunition
except for one magazine per person. It was hard to sleep that night knowing
in just a few short days we'd be back on Larson Barracks in Kitzingen.

One of the street signs in Kosovo. Notice the town name
spray painted out. I have no idea why someone did that.

Most of our convoy route from Camp Bondsteel to Camp Able Sentry
took us through some pretty mountainous terrain. Here is a picture
I took of the reflection off my own rear view mirror as we drove.

Notice the red UCK flags hanging from the houses. They weren't supposed
to be flying those, but there wasn't a whole lot we could do to stop them.

At the Kosovo/Macedonia border. Those are Greek soldiers directing traffic.

We didn't have to wait for the traffic jam to move, we
were just moved off to the side road specially built for KFOR.

Convoying over the border on the bypass road.

A Macedonian highway sign.

Not sure if this sign means we're leaving or
entering Skopje. In Germany it would mean leaving.

This is me, of course! I'm happy we're that one bit closer to home!!

Just before arriving at Camp Able Sentry we needed
to pass through a toll booth on the highway.

Outside the Skopje Airport. Camp Able Sentry is just down the road.

We're there! Right where we started from seven months ago!

It had changed some since we had last been there. Going in
the back gate towards the marshalling area for convoys.

I remembered this sign, though!

After lining up the vehicles and doing a sensitive items check,
it was time to relax a bit in the same tent city we'd stayed in before.
