Sling Load Pictures Day 2

Finally after quite a delay, the second day of our training arrived. We were going to get a class on how to prepare and hook up a piece of equipment. We went to the motorpool on Camp Bondsteel and began getting one of our shelters ready to go.

Here we are getting a class on link counting. That's
SFC Franklin, 2nd Platoon's platoon sergeant, giving the class.

More link counting after the class. As you'll see later,
someone wasn't paying attention during the class we got.

Preparing the rest of the vehicle for the flight.

Arriving at the landing zone on Camp Bondsteel.

The Chinook arrives on site.

After the helicopter arrived, it became hurry up and wait. This
is a generator we were going to sling load with the truck but at the
last minute due to the winds or something they cancelled that part.

Finally! They asked if anyone wanted to ride in the Chinook for a bit
while they did the sling loading and I said sure! Here I am sitting next
to SPC Roberts from 2nd Platoon as the Chinook flies around Camp Bondsteel.

I was taking a picture of the front of the helicopter when SPC Roberts
just happened to turn around. It's blurry because of the helicopter moving.

A crew chief looking down as they do the hook-up.

Since I wasn't outside to take any pictures, I got some copies from one
of the others on the ground who had a digital camera. Here is SPC Williams
from 2nd Platoon doing the actual hook-up of the shelter to the helicopter.

It's hooked up and SPC Williams is jumping off the truck to get away.

And there it goes! Notice the tilt, someone screwed up the link count
and the 101st Airborne guys who checked it didn't do too good either!

Another picture of the shelter in the air. This was the last day of our
training. The next time we did this we'd be doing it for real and it was fun!
